Dr. Horton contributed an article on the latest breast implant reconstruction techniques after breast cancer treatment to the Bay Area Breast Cancer Connections October-December 2017 publication. Dr. Horton discusses nipple-sparing mastectomy and other techniques used to save the nipple in breast cancer surgery, “hidden incisions” in the fold beneath the breast, “pre-pectoral” (subcutaneous) implant placement on top of the muscle using smooth walled, permanent, postoperatively adjustable implants – which Dr. Horton has been doing for 12 years – and “direct-to-implant” breast reconstruction. She also educates about the newest generations of silicone gel breast implants and safety issues with textured devices such as BIA-ALCL.
