Before and after ultrasound-assisted liposuction of the chest in a 32-year-old man. Through hard work and persistence, he lost over eighty pounds. His chest still had evidence of his past obesity. He wanted to have less fullness in his chest region and to get rid of his “man boobs” once and for all.

Male breast tissue, called gynecomastia, is firmer and more fibrous than normal fat. Ultrasound energy helps to break up this fibrous tissue and allows for liposuction to remove fat and breast tissue through a long, slender wand called a cannula.

After surgery, compression in the form of an ACE wrap or tight shirt is recommended for 6 weeks to encourage the chest skin to mold to its new form and to limit swelling and bruising.

Follow up photos are shown a year after surgery, with mature, faded, flattened scars (under the breast and in the armpits) and effective skin contraction. He has maintained a stable weight and is incredibly pleased with his decision to have chest liposuction.
