Before and after correction of a “Pixie ear” or “Spock ear” due to a congenital third crus.  This outer ear condition is not harmful at all – other than teasing during childhood. This 19 year old woman wanted to have a more normal appearance to her ears and to feel comfortable pulling her hair back.

Excess cartilage from the outer ear was excised under local anesthesia in the office. Skin flaps were gently elevated and the cartilage of the ear was sculpted to a more round curvature.

Follow up photos are shown just two weeks after surgery. She left our office wearing a ponytail and has been very comfortable wearing her hair back ever since!
