Before and after breast reduction in a 37 year old woman. She had extremely heavy and pendulous breasts which caused the expected symptoms of macromastia (pain her neck, back and shoulders, inability to exercise well, difficulty fitting tops without her buttons bulging open). She also had a significant preoperative size discrepancy between her breasts.

Follow up images are shown just two 8 weeks after surgery, where a breast reduction included aggressive liposuction of her axillary rolls and the sides of her breasts (known as the bra roll of upper back fat).

At two months, her scars are maturing rapidly. Wound healing and scar quality is largely determined by genetics. She has begun scar therapy, although her incisions will continue to fade and mature with time. If you look closely, her right sided accessary nipple is visible after surgery, since her breasts are so lifted! (it did not bother her – she chose to not have it removed).

She has started to run and now just wears one sports bra – instead of three. She has received permission to get fitted for new fancy bras, although she understands that wearing a bra after breast reduction surgery is NOT necessary!
