Before and after right unilateral skin-only mastopexy with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 32-year-old woman. She had congenital breast asymmetry that made her self-conscious, with the right breast having a tubular shape. She felt very strongly she did not want breast implants, and also did not want to alter her left breast.

A right skin-only mastopexy lifted her nipple and areola and reshaped the right breast to better match the left. Liposuction removed fat from her armpit region on both sides. This procedure was performed under local anesthesia in the office, with an oral anti-anxiety pill to help ease her nerves.

Follow up photos are shown 5 months after surgery. The right areola is smooth and non-reactive, as expected after surgery. Nerves “go to sleep” after any surgery and gradually wake up over time. Her scars are starting to mature, and she is actively applying scar gel.

With time, her right areola will regain its contractile ability and better match the left areola that constricts with touch or cold, causing it to appear smaller than the right side.
