Before and after bilateral revision mastopexy in a 23-year-old woman who previously had a breast augmentation and periareolar lift (also called a “donut mastopexy”).
Her areolas had stretched out, which is quite common with a breast lift using this technique. A lollipop scar helps to take pressure off the areola and prevent stretching, which became our surgical plan. Her revision involved creating a new lollipop scar which reduced the areolar diameter and created a new vertical scar under the nipple – the “lollipop stick.”
Follow up photos are shown 7 months after surgery. Her scars and pink but are fading, and her nipples and areolar are waking up – both their sensation and their contractile ability. With time, her areolas will constrict normally, further reducing their diameter.
