Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 30-year-old woman. She had symptomatic macromastia – dense, heavy, enlarged breasts that caused pain, strain on her neck, shoulder and back, and limited her from most physical activities and buying clothes and swimsuits without difficulty.
A breast reduction removed over FIVE pounds of excess breast tissue from EACH breast! Liposuction removed nearly two liters of fat from the armpits and bra rolls through four tiny incisions hidden in skin creases.
As is common with obese patients, she experienced delayed wound healing and wound separation under her breasts, at the inverted-T junction of the inframammary fold incision. She was instructed on wound care, which allowed her incisions to heal over several weeks. This resulted in stretched scars under her breasts, which she rarely noticed.
Follow up photos are shown a year and a half after surgery. Her scars are nearly mature, and she now enjoys shopping for clothes and working out! She has been offered a scar revision to correct mild “bottoming out” of the lower pole of her breasts, but she is satisfied with her results. She will contact us in the future if she is interested in scar revisions – which are done under local anesthesia.
