Before and after bilateral breast implant removal in a 29-year-old woman who recently got married. After having breast implants for over ten years, she no longer wanted them. Capsular contracture that had developed around her left implant caused chronic pain and tightness, especially when she raised her arms. In preparation to begin her family, she wanted to have her implants removed.
Explantation was performed under local anesthesia, taking just over one hour. After her implants were removed, she felt immediate relief of her symptoms. She took a full shower in two days and resumed exercise at two weeks.
Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. Her incisions are hidden in the fold under her breast. She looks forward to getting pregnant and not having her breasts become too big while breastfeeding!
