Before and after bilateral mastopexy (breast lift) and breast augmentation as part of a Mommy Makeover in a 38-year-old mother.  Her goal was to get her former breast size and shape back, which she lost after pregnancy and breastfeeding her three children, and to have less fat in her bra rolls and armpits.

Smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed above the muscle, in the subglandular position.  A mastopexy lifted the nipples and areolas up to a higher position on the breast and removed excess lower pole baggy skin.  Liposuction removed fat from her axillary rolls (armpits and bra rolls), upper and lower abdomen, flanks, pubic region and upper inner thighs at the same time as a tummy tuck.

After surgery, she took a full month off work and resumed unrestricted exercise at 6 weeks postop.  Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery.  It is very common for scars at this stage to be bright red/pink or brown in color, gradually maturing and becoming less raised and more pale in color over the next year or longer after surgery.

In addition, darkly pigmented areolas such as in this Latina patient can temporarily lose some of their pigmentation, as the pigment cells called melanocytes also can go to sleep after surgery and not make as much pigment for up to a year.  She is doing scar therapy and already loves her early postop results!
