Before and after bilateral explantation in a 34-year-old woman with submuscular silicone gel breast implants. They had been in place for over a decade while they looked nice, this patient felt like they no longer represented her at this stage in her life. Because the implants were under the muscle, they sat fairly wide on her chest, and she had an animation deformity whenever she flexed her chest muscles.

Explantation was performed in the office under local anesthesia. After surgery, she showered in two days and resumed exercise at two weeks. Scar therapy began at six weeks, and she applied a scar gel to her incisions for a full three months after surgery.

Follow up photos are shown one year after surgery. When she flexes her muscles now, the bottom of her breasts still contract, but there is no longer a major deformity. She is very satisfied with her decision to have her breast implants removed and feels very natural in her own body!
