Before and after liposuction of the neck in a 50-year-old woman. She did not have the downtime available for a full neck lift but wanted to improve the appearance of her jawline. She was a candidate for liposuction under local anesthesia of the submental region, the collection of fat under the chin.
Liposuction of small areas is performed under local anesthesia, with an oral anti-anxiety medication and inhaled patient-controlled laughing gas. In this case, we not only removed fat from under her chin, but also in the jowl region to debulk her jowls which were starting to form.
After surgery, she wore a compressive chin strap which limited swelling and bruising. She resumed full exercise at 3 weeks postop, when her bruising had completely resolved.
Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. She may wish to explore a MACS lift in the future, but for now, she is pleased with her liposuction results!
