Before and after breast reconstruction by breast reduction and lift in a 55-year-old breast cancer survivor. She had completed her breast cancer treatment, which consisted of a right lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Her breasts were asymmetric, making it difficult to wear bras without them pulling awkwardly to the left larger side.
Her goal was to be slightly smaller than her existing breast size and for her breasts to better match one another. Her reconstruction consisted of a “local tissue rearrangement” (breast lift) on the right side, a breast reduction and lift on the left, and liposuction of the axillary rolls (armpits and bra rolls).
Long-term follow up photos are shown 3 years after surgery. The radiated breast will always be a little smaller and more compact than the non-radiated side, but she genuinely appreciates her smaller and more symmetric breasts!
