Before and after liposuction of the abdomen and flanks in a 37-year-old woman. She was frustrated at the lack of results she saw from working with a trainer, clean eating and eliminating alcohol. GLP-1 medications were not yet around, and she had hit a standstill with her progress.

Liposuction removed excess fat from her midsection circumferentially. After surgery, she wore compression garments under her clothes for a full three months – first, the post-surgical garments, then shapewear once the swelling became more manageable.

Long-term follow up photos are shown 4 years after surgery. Once fat is removed using liposuction, it is gone forever. As long as a stable weight is maintained, the results are permanent!

If weight gain occurs after major liposuction surgery, it tends to be distributed evenly throughout all areas of the body. However, a former “trouble zone” will likely become a recurrent trouble stop that may proportionally store more fat than other areas, as the remaining fat cells in that zone have the same qualities as the fat cells were removed.

Remaining fat cells will likely store fat there in the future if a significant weight gain occurs – this is why Plastic Surgery and liposuction in particularly is an investment, and a healthy, responsible lifestyle after surgery is the best way to ensure reliable results!
