Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift in a 63-year-old woman. She had lost weight and developed significant breast deflation and droop with loss of fat from her body. She wanted to look natural and have a lift of her breasts but not be too small.
A breast reduction and mastopexy via the auto-augmentation technique removed some volume from her breasts and reshaped them to be more round and perky. An intraoperative image is shown on the operating room table – her breast has swelled and assumed an unnaturally augmented breast shape. Within several weeks, the surgical swelling (called edema) starts to resolve, and the breast takes on a more natural teardrop shape.
Follow up photos are shown 6 months after surgery. Her scars are still pink but have started to fade. She finds exercise much easier without needing to wear a tight sports bra, and she can go braless now – and no one knows!
