Before and after bilateral upper lid blepharoplasty in a 57-year-old woman. She was always being told, “You look tired” – even after a good night’s sleep! She was concerned about looking different after Plastic Surgery, like the majority of our patients.
Our aesthetic is a natural looking result, which accentuates our patient’s own features, rather than changing them. We should all look like our OWN best self, not pulled strangely or with altered features in the face.
A skin-only upper eyelid lift, using the “pinch blepharoplasty” technique, removed excess skin from her upper eyelids but left her upper eyelid muscle and fat pads alone. After surgery, she had bruising that traveled downwards to her lower eyelids and upper cheeks over the first three weeks after surgery.
We recommend taking one month of “social downtime” where face-to-face contact with colleagues or family/friends is not necessary. At least one week is recommended off work after blepharoplasty surgery in case eyelids are extremely swollen and computer work is not comfortable. Glasses are recommended over contact lenses for up to a month after surgery.
Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. She looks like herself, just less tired. She finds applying eye makeup much easier and is very pleased with her results!
