Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction revision in a 50 year old breast cancer survivor. Her previously placed implants after her mastectomy were under the muscle and pulled laterally, causing the sensation of tightness and pulling at all times. Her primary goal for her breast revision was alleviation of this pressure and pulling.

The scars to the sides of her nipples were used to access the mastectomy space. The old implant were removed and discarded. The pectoralis major muscle was separated from the mastectomy skin, and returned to the chest wall, reconstructing her normal chest muscle anatomy.

New smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed in the new pocket on top of the muscle, in the prepectoral position. Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpits to compliment the procedure and provide the very best aesthetic results. She was a candidate for a mastopexy (lift of the nipples and areolas) at the same time, but her nipple position did not bother her.

Follow up photos are shown six months after surgery. Her incisions are pink, as expected for this stage of healing. Her animation deformity is gone, and she has resumed all her former upper body exercises without any unpleasant sensations.
