Before and after abdominoplasty as part of a Mommy Makeover procedure in a 40 year old woman. Although she remained in great shape during and after her pregnancies, she missed her formerly flat belly and felt proud of her stretch marks, but she wanted her abdomen to reflect her hard work at the gym. Contributing to her abdominal bulge was permanent separation of her rectus abdominis muscles called “rectus diastasis” which no amount of exercise or physical therapy can correct.
Her Mommy Makeover included a breast lift, abdominoplasty, labiaplasty and liposuction of her axillary rolls, abdomen, flanks, pubic region and upper inner thighs. The tummy tuck removed many of her stretch marks, surgically repaired her rectus diastasis, redraped her abdominal skin downward, and repositioned her belly button. Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls, abdomen, flanks/love handles, mons pubis and upper inner thighs.
Postoperatively, she took a month of work and resumed light exercise at 6 weeks. Follow up photos are shown 9 months after surgery. Her scars are well on their way to maturity, she feels more like her pre-pregnancy self, and has normal range of motion in her yoga practice.
