Before and after bilateral breast revision in a 34 year old Mom. Her previously placed saline implants were under the muscle. Over time, they had migrated too high up on her chest. She hated the way they looked and always felt the need to wear high-necked shirts to hide them.
Her breast revision involved reopening her incision under her breast in the inframammary fold, removing her saline implants, and choosing the newest silicone breast implants for replacement. Her pectoralis muscles were returned to the chest wall and a new implant was placed on top of the muscle. This provided a natural breast shape and corrected the visible deformity and associated muscle strain and physical discomfort.
The subglandular position is preferred in our patients since there is no animation deformity, no muscle strain and the implant stays where we want it to be! Implants that are under the muscle tend to migrate up and out, following the natural muscle vector.
Follow up photos are shown just three weeks after surgery. Her drains were removed on postoperative day 4, and she resumed unrestricted exercise and running at the three week mark. She feels natural and proportional, and wore a low cut tank top today without any hesitation!
