56-year-old woman with right breast cancer. She underwent bilateral skin-sparing mastectomies designed through a breast reduction pattern and immediate DIEP/SIEA flap breast reconstructions. She later had chemotherapy and right-sided radiation therapy. Note that a year after radiation therapy, her right breast reconstruction is slightly higher when compared to the left (non-radiated) breast reconstruction. Bilateral nipple and areola reconstructions were performed prior to radiation. The radiation therapy did not injure the flap but caused it to slightly shrink in volume (approximately 10%).
