Before and after breast augmentation in a 53 year old woman. Not all breast augmentation patients are woman in their 20’s! This fit, active woman middle-aged wanted to restore the volume she had lost in her breasts after minor weight loss and breast feeding.
She was looking for subtle upper pole fullness but wanted to still be able to fill out her current bras – just to fill out the top of the cup, as she currently was leaving devoid of breast tissue. For her surgery, smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed above the muscle, in the subglandular position through an incision hidden in the breast fold.
Avoiding putting implants under the muscle enables our patients to get back to full unrestricted exercise in 3 weeks and only take Tylenol for postoperative discomfort in most cases. There is no animation deformity (flexing of the breast upon pectoralis major muscle flexion) and the breast has a natural shape immediately after drain removal.
Liposuction of the armpit area (axillary rolls) is standard for all breast surgery in our office. This little extra step makes the results truly the best they can be!
Follow up photos are shown 5 weeks after surgery. She feels “normal and natural”, just like she wanted and she no longer needs to wear padding in her bra to the get look she wants. She just has it on her own! (with a little help from us). ;)
