Before and after bilateral breast reduction in a 45 year old woman with a BAD sunburn! Ouch! She had heavy, pendulous and asymmetric breasts that she was finally ready to do something about!
A breast reduction removed much of her bottom-heavy breast tissue and reshaped her breasts to a smaller, but still proportional and perkier shape. Liposuction removed some stubborn fat from her bra roll area.
Very early follow up photos are shown just one month after surgery. Why do we show these scary looking images? Because this is reality, and part of learning about surgery is called “informed consent”. Results do not always look pretty right away.
Her incisions are still healing and are bright pink. The bra roll area is firm and full of swelling, called edema. It will take at least 3 months for this firmness to go away and for the breasts to assume a more normal teardrop shape. We share images such as these as part of the preoperative instruction process – “the good, the bad, and the ugly” “Frankenboob” phase!
