Before and after breast revision in a 33 year old woman. She previously had undergone a breast augmentation and had developed bilateral capsular contracture which caused her implants to sit too far apart and feel too hard.
A capsulectomy removed hard, contracted scar tissue from around her implants and the old breast implants were discarded. New gummy bear silicone gel breast implants were placed, and kept in the subglandular position, on top of the pectoralis major muscle. Her drains were in for less than a week and she returned to exercise at 3 weeks postop.
Fortunately, most breast implant companies now have a lengthy warranty that covers patients against this potential complication. Patients are provided with a new implant if they require additional surgery during the first 10-20 years after their augmentation surgery.
Follow up photos are shown one month after revision surgery. She is actively massaging and is relieved to have softer, more natural looking breasts again!
Note how much better her breast shape looks, especially with her arms overhead and the contour from the side views. Her scars which were previously visible below her implants due to scar contracture now lie comfortably and hidden in the fold under her breasts.
