Before and after revision breast surgery in a 36 year old woman with old saline breast implants. They had developed circumferential capsular contracture, resulting in a tight sensation and an abnormal shape, most evident with her arms lifted above her head.
From the side, the breasts had an abnormally round upper curvature also due to contracture that caused a relatively low position of her nipples. She wanted to keep implants and improve her breast look and shape. Her body had changed over the past 15 years and she wished to be a little fuller.
In an outpatient procedure, both saline implants were removed and scar tissue was removed from around her implants, known as a “capsulectomy”. New smooth round cohesive silicone gel breast implants were placed. The pocket was kept on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position. This results in the most natural look and avoids deformity of the breast with muscle animation.
Follow up photos are shown three weeks after surgery. She took only one pain pill and went back to work a few days later. Her drains were removed in a few days and she had resumed exercise without restrictions. She achieved each of her goals. She loves her updated breasts!!
