Before and after delayed breast reconstruction in a 74 year old woman. She had a previous implant reconstruction on the left that failed. She required her own tissue for reconstruction and wanted to match her left augmented breast.
A DIEP flap taken from the lower abdomen reconstructed her left breast. A small skin paddle was required in the bottom area of her breast to replace missing radiated skin.
Follow up photos are shown 6 months after surgery. There is no age limit or time limit for breast reconstruction; so long as patients are healthy enough to undergo surgery and understand the risks and benefits of surgery, they are considered appropriate candidates.
