Before and after nipple and areola reconstruction in a 55 year old breast cancer survivor who had previously had a DIEP flap breast reconstruction. She was healing with hypertrophic scars that were itchy and painful.
To reconstruct her right nipple, a free nipple graft was taken from the lower half of the left nipple and moved to the left side in the “nipple sharing” technique. An areola tattoo was done bilaterally to create equivalent color of both areolas. A scar revision was done to improve the condition of her right breast scars.
Follow up photos are shown at 6 months after free nipple grafting, tattoo and scar revision. She has good symmetry of her nipples and her scar is greatly improved. The left “donor” nipple is 50% smaller than its original size and has regained full sensation.
