Before and after breast reduction in a 40 year old woman. Her breasts were heavy, drooping and causing chronic neck, back and shoulder pain. Her areolas were oversized and her nipples were pointing to the floor (“Grade III ptosis”). She was an ideal candidate for reduction mammaplasty surgery.
A breast reduction removed heavy breast tissue, skin and fat from the bottoms and sides of her breasts. Liposuction removed fat from the sides of her breasts and the back fat/bra roll and axillary rolls. Her areola size was reduced and her breast tissue reshaped and moved upward on her chest to sit in a higher and more youthful position.
Follow up photos are shown four years after surgery. Her scars were hypertrophic for several years after surgery – they are now mature, but are slightly stretched. She knew before her breast reduction that she had a genetic propensity to form bigger scars.
Her scars are now soft and are not itchy or painful. Note the vertical scar under her nipple and areola is nearly invisible! She calls her breast reduction “life changing”!
