Before and after left nipple sparing mastectomy and immediate implant reconstruction in a 33 year old woman with breast cancer. She had not yet had children and wanted to preserve her other breast for future breast feeding. She was tested for the BRCA gene and was negative.
A left nipple sparing mastectomy and immediate single stage breast implant reconstruction with a smooth, round adjustable saline implant was performed. It was placed on top of her pectoralis major muscle, in the pre-pectoral position. Her implant was fully inflated during surgery so no additional inflations of the implant were required after surgery.
Follow up photos are shown at one month after surgery. She has some mild swelling of the left breast reconstruction that will continue to go down over the next couple of months. She has the option of keeping this saline implant in place and removing the implant port in the office or switching to a silicone implant in the future.
