Before and after immediate breast reconstruction in a 44 year old woman with a left breast cancer. She had small breasts in relation to her frame and post-pregnancy deflation of her breasts. She had been thinking about a breast augmentation for some time when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. So she viewed needing surgery as an opportunity to have her Mommy Makeover!
A left nipple sparing mastectomy was done with immediately placement of a smooth round permanently and postoperatively adjustable implant. Her right breast was augmented also with an adjustable implant. Postoperatively, she completed chemotherapy but did not need radiation.
The adjustable saline implants were exchanged for permanent smooth round silicone gel implants 6 months later. Although she could have kept the saline implants and just had the injection ports removed, she chose to switch to silicone for the very best look and feel of her reconstruction.
Follow up photos are shown 3 weeks after implant exchange. She feels proportional to the rest of her body and totally natural. Breast cancer is now in her past and she is ready to move on with her life as a busy Mom and business owner!
