Before and after breast revision in a 59 year old woman. She had previous saline breast implants that had contracted and then deflated. She wished to have a revision of her previous surgery that achieved a natural and more aesthetically pleasing result.
Both her implants were changed from saline to silicone and excess scar tissue was removed from around the old breast implants (bilateral implant exchange and capsulectomy). She was very diligent about doing implant massage and recovered very well after this revision procedure.
Follow up images are shown a year after surgery. She has much better symmetry and has maintained a soft, proportional and natural looking result. This will likely be her very last breast surgery ever!
Implants do NOT necessarily need to be changed every ten years. I tell my patients I need to see them in person and examine them at least every ten years for long-term follow up. As long as they look and feel good, there is no need to do additional implant surgery!
