Before and after bilateral TUG (inner thigh) free flap breast reconstruction in a 43 year old breast cancer survivor. She had previously undergone bilateral mastectomies, radiation therapy and chemotherapy and had a failed implant reconstruction on the left side.
She required healthy new tissue on her chest (Microsurgery)! She had more inner thigh fat then abdominal fat. Therefore, she was an ideal candidate for a TUG flap. Her aesthetic goal was to be reconstructed fully than her current implant size.
Multiple reconstructive stages were performed, including transplantation of inner thigh tissue (TUG flaps) to the chest, placement of implants beneath the flaps to provide more projection and volume, nipple and areola reconstruction using local flaps and medical tattoo, and free fat grafting to enhance her outcome and provide aesthetic body contouring.
Follow up photos are shown 7 years after her initial TUG flap procedure. She is now 10 years cancer-free and has moved on with her life! She no longer feels like a cancer survivor – instead she is living life to the fullest as a healthy 50 year old!
