Before and after bilateral breast augmentation in a 25 year old woman with tubular breasts, with enlarged areolas and puffy nipples. She wanted to be able to fill out a bra and have more fullness to her breasts. After discussing the option of an additional incision around her areolas to centralize them on the breast mound and correct the tubular shape, she elected to do the augmentation only.
Smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position. She too a week off work and resumed exercise without restrictions at three weeks. She took only three doses of extra strength Tylenol for postoperative discomfort.
Follow up photos are shown one month after surgery. She likes the increased fullness of her breasts and will continue to follow up with us yearly. She appreciates knowing that she can always have a periareolar lift (also called circumareolar lift or donut mastopexy) to centralize her nipples and areolas and push the puffy, projecting areola mound back in the office under local anesthetic later on.
