Before and after breast implant removal and mastopexy using the auto-augmentation technique with liposuction of the axillary rolls as part of a Mommy Makeover in a 55-year-old woman. She previously had a submuscular saline breast augmentation. Over time, her implants had risen, and her breast tissue drooped off the implants – this is called the “Snoopy deformity” or the “waterfall deformity.” Her goal was to have smaller, lifted and more natural looking breasts.

An explantation procedure removed the implants. A capsulectomy was not performed since she did not have capsular contracture. In this situation following breast implant removal, capsular scar tissue tends to fade and go away on its own over time. Her native breast tissue was reshaped and lifted, moving it into a subglandular pocket just as for a breast augmentation – but in this case, using our patient’s own tissue to augment her breasts.

Liposuction permanently removed excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls, upper and lower abdomen, pubic region, and upper inner and outer thighs. A tummy tuck was performed as well during her procedure.

Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. She is actively doing scar therapy, is back doing all her normal exercise and already can appreciate her smaller, perkier breasts!
