Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction revision in a 41-year-old breast cancer survivor. Her tight, contracted tissue expanders were painful and sat too far apart on her chest.
Her revision involved removal of the tissue expanders, capsulectomy to recreate her original breast “footprint”, and insertion of the newest smooth round intermediate cohesive silicone gel breast implants on top of the muscle, in the prepectoral position. Her aesthetic goals were to be fuller than her tight expanders, similar to her original breast volume and shape.
Nipple and areola reconstructions were performed at the same time. We always strive to do the most beautiful revision surgery with the most steps in a single procedure, whenever possible. Follow up photos are shown just 3 weeks after surgery.
