Before and after left breast reconstruction revision in a 53-year-old breast cancer survivor. Her left breast implant reconstruction had developed capsular contracture after an infected root canal, causing pain and deformity.
Her revision involved a left capsulectomy and implant exchange to create improved symmetry with her right lifted breast. She felt strongly that she did not want an implant for her right breast, although that was presented to her as an option for upper pole symmetry. A lower profile implant was inserted to better match the right natural breast upper pole slope.
Long-term follow up photos are shown 2 years after surgery. She feels much more symmetric and is grateful that she was listened to when expressing her goals and priorities for her breasts.
