Before and after bilateral breast augmentation revision in a 52-year-old woman. Her right saline breast implant had deflated, causing wardrobe issues – her daughter was getting married soon and she did not have time to undergo a big surgery just one month before the big event!
She was excited and relieved to learn that implant exchange can be done awake, under local anesthesia – so long as the pocket does not need major modification for reasons such as capsular contracture or the need to change the implant plane from under the muscle to on top of the muscle. Since she did not have capsular contracture and she already had a scar in the fold under her breast, implant exchange in the office was planned.
She elected to switch her saline-filled breast implants to silicone gel to have an even more natural feel to her breasts. Surgery took just over an hour to perform. After surgery, she showered in two days and resumed exercise in two weeks. And she was ready to be Mother-of-the-Bride one month later!
Follow up photos are shown a year and half after surgery.
