Before and after breast reconstruction revision in a 59-year-old breast cancer survivor. She previously had a right non-nipple-sparing mastectomy and placement of a tissue expander under the muscle. Her goal was to have fuller and rounder breasts.
Her revision involved removal of the tissue expander and reconstruction of her pectoralis major muscle, insertion of a smooth round silicone gel breast implant on top of the muscle in the prepectoral position, and a subglandular breast augmentation on the left.
Nipple reconstruction was performed at the same time using the “nipple sharing” or left-to-right free nipple graft technique. Medical tattoo created an areolar circle. If this revision were planned today, both breasts would have received tattoos for the very vest symmetry, and rather than our rudimentary tattoo technique, we would refer to a paramedical tattoo artist who specialized in three-dimensional shading.
