Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 53-year-old woman. She had previously had a breast reduction in her early twenties but was never made as small as she wanted to be. She had a physically demanding job and felt limited in her activities due to her breasts.

After having children and going through menopause, her breasts had increased further in size and become asymmetrical – she was interested in a secondary (redo) breast reduction to alleviate pulling and downward pressure on her neck, shoulders and upper back from her heavy breasts.

A breast reduction removed over a pound of breast tissue from each breast. Her breasts were reshaped and lifted, and liposuction removed excess fat from her bra rolls and armpit region. A second incision was required over the lipoma for complete removal of this mass. When we perform breast reductions, tissue is always sent to the Pathology lab at CPMC (California Pacific Medical Center) for analysis.
