Before and after bilateral breast implant revision in a 50-year-old woman. Her old saline breast implants had developed capsular contracture several years ago, causing a wide space between them that caused them to look fake. She wanted to a slightly fuller with a more natural look to her breasts.
Bilateral capsulectomy removed scar tissue from around her implants. A culture was taken from each internal breast capsule and sent for culture – no bacteria grew, so the risk of recurrent contracture was low.
New smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed in the same subglandular pocket, on top of the muscle. Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery.
