Before and after bilateral breast revision in a 47 year old breast cancer survivor. She previously had undergone bilateral mastectomies and implant reconstructions. Her breast skin was loose and baggy, and she had developed capsular contracture, most evident with her hands above her head and when she flexed her chest muscles.
Her revision procedure included removal of her old implants, capsulectomy to remove scar tissue, placement of new highly cohesive silicone gel breast implants on top of the muscle (nowadays called “prepectoral reconstruction” – although this is NOT new), and a mastopexy to “tuck the skin” of the breast and lift her nipples and areolas to a higher position on the breast.
Follow up photos are shown one month after surgery. Her incisions are expectedly pink and will fade over the next several months. Her breasts are now “high and tight”, with a more aesthetic position on the chest and a lifted, perky result. She feels breast cancer is even further behind her now!
