Before and after breast implant revision in a 56-year-old woman. She had undergone two previous breast augmentations, and her current implants were too big, too tight and causing pain.
Capsular contracture had closed off the space around each implant, causing her breasts to look like two round balls on her chest. She was not ready to take her implants altogether. She was looking for a smaller and more natural looking result.
Her overfilled saline implants were removed, and a capsulectomy created a more anatomic breast footprint for each breast. New smooth round low-profile silicone gel breast implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position. After surgery, she took three weeks off exercise but felt immediate relief as soon as she woke up from surgery!
Follow up photos are shown 6 weeks after surgery. Most of her surgical swelling has resolved. She is starting scar therapy and no longer feels the need to “hide” her breasts from her family – she can comfortably go without a bra and wear any tops she likes!
