Before and after right breast reconstruction in an 18 year old woman with Poland Syndrome. She was born without a right pectoralis major muscle – note the absence of the axillary fold on the right – and an underdeveloped right breast. Her left breast had naturally grown larger than the right.
A low profile smooth round silicone gel implant was placed under the right breast to create better symmetry with the left breast. Liposuction was done on the left axillary roll to de-bulk this area and create better symmetry with the right side where she is missing the pectoralis muscle insertion.
Follow up photos are shown at 7 months after surgery. She has better symmetry and less stigmata of Poland Syndrome. She will be followed forward in time as her breasts change over time (pregnancy, breast feeding, weight changes) and adjustments can be made as needed to keep symmetry to breasts.
