Before and after bilateral nipple and areola reconstruction in a in a 45 year old woman who was also having delayed breast implant reconstruction. She previously had non-skin sparing mastectomies with removal of her nipples and areolas. She was unfortunately not offered reconstruction.
Following delayed breast implant reconstruction which was performed in a single stage, her nipples were reconstructed using the local flap technique. Areolar circles were created using via medical tattoo. Procedures were performed at the same time in the office under local anesthesia.
Follow up photos are shown 10 days after her final procedure with some bruising that is starting to resolve. Nipple and areola reconstruction is the final finishing touch to any breast reconstruction that creates a more natural looking breast reconstruction. It is like putting the “icing on the cake”, or the “cherry on the cupcake” as one of our patients put it!
