Before and after bilateral breast augmentation in a 31 year old woman who previously had bilateral lumpectomies for stage zero breast cancer.  No additional therapy such as chemotherapy or radiation was required.  She was naturally small breasted and was thrilled to learn that implant reconstruction via augmentation was covered by insurance since she was a breast cancer survivor!

Another surgeon told her that she needed to have her implants placed submuscularly because she was so thin. We disagree! Many of our patients are very thin, physically active and are looking for a natural result. We believe that the chest muscles should be left alone, and that the most natural results are in fact created when implants are placed ON TOP of the pectoralis major muscle. Learn more here.

Smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular or prepectoral position. Her goal was to be much fuller than her natural breast size.

Like most women, she was worried about needing to have her implants replaced every ten years. We educate our patients that additional surgery is only required if she is having a problem, if she wants a change to her reconstruction or if she decides she no longer wants breast implants.

Long term follow up photos are shown 5 years after surgery. In the long term, she will follow up with us every 5-10 years.
