Before and after right nipple-sparing mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction. She was most concerned about looking “fake” and losing the ability to play tennis competitively.
The single-stage immediate breast reconstruction technique using an adjustable saline implant was used. A balancing mastopexy and augmentation on the left side enabled the patient to also have her “Mommy Makeover” as part of her breast cancer reconstruction! The adjustable saline implant enabled the patient to decide herself how full she wanted to be.
Note the past lumpectomy scar on the right breast prior to surgery. Follow up images are shown at two years after reconstruction. She did not take one narcotic pill after surgery; only Tylenol for two days!
Her saline breast implants were exchanged for silicone on both sides at the time of implant port removal. She is very happy with her results and after chemotherapy, she has fully resumed all her hard-core physical activities.
Placement of implants for reconstruction ON TOP of the pectoralis muscle gives the breasts the most natural look and feel. Patients do not suffer from the “motion deformity” and there is no tightness or pain related to moving their chest muscles.
