Before and after bilateral nipple sparing mastectomies and immediate implant reconstruction in a 38 year old woman. She had an aggressive right sided tumor that required neoadjuvant chemotherapy to attempt to shrink the tumor before surgery. Bruising and steri-strips can be seen at her biopsy site prior to chemotherapy starting.
Bilateral nipple sparing mastectomies were performed through inframammary fold incisions under the breasts. After placement of smooth round postoperatively adjustable implants, she required radiation therapy to the right chest wall that begun 6 weeks after surgery.
Follow up images are shown at 6 months after the completion of radiation therapy and additional chemotherapy. Her right radiated side is subtly smaller and shrunken after radiotherapy, but the implant is not harmed by radiation.
She is ready to have her implant ports removed and is considering replacement of the saline implants with smooth round highly cohesive silicone gel implants for an even more natural feel to her breast reconstruction.
