Before and after bilateral breast implant deflation of overfilled saline implants and later shell removal in a 58-year-old woman. She no longer wanted her implants due to their size, hard feel and unnatural look, but she did not have time available for two weeks off travel and heavy lifting at work, recommended after surgery.
She was thrilled that removal of the saline from her implants was available to her as an interim option, prior to surgery to remove the deflated implant shells. Her implants were deflated in a simple office visit. One year later, she underwent deflated implant shell removal, also in the office – under local anesthesia.
Follow up photos are shown a year and a half after saline implant deflation. Rather than looking baggy and all stretched-out, deflation of saline implants (or removal of full-sized silicone implants) results in the breast rebounding to its original shape and form, plus or minus any changes in weight that have occurred since breast implant insertion.
She was offered a breast lift at the same time as shell removal to lift her nipples and remove some lower pole skin, but she declined. At age 60, she feels wonderfully comfortable in her skin!
