Before and after bilateral explantation in a 56-year-old woman. She expressed that she “actually never liked them” due to their under-the-muscle location, and needing to stop playing tennis and golf due to muscle spasms when she engaged her chest muscles. After going through menopause and adopting a healthier and more natural lifestyle, she felt that her implants no longer represented her values.
Both breast implants were removed in the office operating room under local anesthesia. After surgery, she took three days off work and showered on the second postoperative day. She resumed full exercise at two weeks.
Long-term follow up photos are shown a year and a half after surgery, with her final result and mature scars. She is very pleased she did not need to go back to sleep to have her implants out – and is back on the golf course and tennis court!
