Before and after right DIEP flap breast reconstruction in a 44 year old mother of five children. This patient had previously undergone a right non-skin sparing mastectomy for breast cancer followed by chemotherapy and radiation. She was unfortunately never offered breast reconstruction.
A right DIEP flap reconstructed a breast that was smaller and perkier than her other breast, as per her wishes for her “Mommy Makeover”, which she had certainly earned! A left breast reduction was performed to achieve her goals for her opposite breast.
Follow up photos are shown at 9 months after DIEP flap surgery. She underwent right nipple and areola reconstruction by a modified star flap and medical tattoo three months ago. Her swelling will continue to go down over the next three to six months.
