Before and after bilateral nipple sparing mastectomies and immediate breast reconstruction with the DIEP flap. This patient had an aggressive breast cancer and was diagnosed with the BRCA gene. She arranged to have a bilateral oophorectomy (ovary removal) at the same procedure.
Her breast skin was preserved, and her breasts reconstructed using fat from her lower abdomen that was transplanted microsurgically. Postoperatively, she required chemotherapy but did not need radiation. She waited a year to have her chemo port removed and some medical tattoo to brighten her areola color.
Follow up photos are shown a year and a half after her DIEP flaps and three months after tattoo and port removal.
