Before and after delayed implant reconstruction in a 29 year old BRCA gene positive woman. She previously had undergone a bilateral prophylactic mastectomy and implant reconstruction because of multiple scares with past biopsies and a very strong family history of breast cancer.
Unfortunately, her left implant required removal due to severe infection. She waited a full year before considering reimplantation.
The full sized implant was reinserted in the prepectoral position, on top of the pectoralis major muscle, without the need for tissue expansion or insertion of any other products such as mesh or dermis.
Follow up photos are shown just one month after surgery. Markings from her bra can be seen due to swelling in her skin. Her incisions continue to heal and she has moved on with her life with matching reconstructions!
